ART CLASSES FOR CHILDREN 

MOMMY (or DADDY) AND ME ART CLASS (6 classes)
Explore a different medium each week as together you nurture a love for art and strengthen your child's creative process. 

"MIX IT UP" ART ADVENTURES (6 classes) 
Nurture your child’s unique artistic ability as they explore various art techniques and media, for example watercolor, collage, mixed media and more. Each workshop focuses on a different two or three dimensional art project.               

CLAY, CLAY, CLAY!  (7 classes)
Your child will explore hand building and glazing techniques while creating several one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork. 

KIDS ACTING WORKSHOPS (5 classes)
Learn to act while creating dialogue and skits through traditional  improvisational methods. Gain self-confidence and poise while having fun in a creative and nurturing environment. Younger kids may attend if able to read.

3 AND 4 DAY SUMMER ART CAMPS  
Join us for fun creative summer camps! Your child will be nurtured and inspired to create, imagine, and act. Each day campers will experience visual arts, creative movement and drama. All activities are age appropriate and the projects will allow each child to express their individual creativity. Please bring a snack, drink and an old t-shirt/apron. Projects and activities will change each week - sign up for one or more.

WE WELCOME TEENS 15 AND UP IN ALL ADULT CLASSES 

CERAMICS (7 classes)
with Cindy Gunn
Explore dynamic hand building and glazing techniques while creating several one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork. From sculptural to functional, beginners to the more experienced, everyone will enjoy getting their hands dirty in the fun class. 

RAKU FIRED CERAMICS (2 classes)
with Jacy Robinson
In this class you will learn the Raku ceramic process while creating hand built pieces. This class will be split between two consecutive Saturdays. Day 1 = Creation! Jacy will guide you as you build your clay piece, anything from pots and vases to sculpture. Day 2 = Glaze and Fire. Everyone will be able to glaze their own piece and participate in the firing process. 

WHAT IS RAKU?
Raku is a type of uniquely patterned ceramics where glazed ceramic pieces are removed from the kiln while glowing hot and quickly placed in a sealed amongst combustible materials. As the materials burn, the piece traps the carbon that has been formed, creating the spectacular look that is unique to Raku. The results are absolutely beautiful.

DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS (6 classes)

Learn the basics of shade, perspective and other elements of drawing. Great for all levels, whether you are a complete beginner or seeking to refresh and develop your existing skills.

OIL PAINTING (6 classes)

Learn and experience the possibilities of oil painting. Includes plein air painting down by the river!

WATERCOLORS

Explore various watercolor techniques while creating your own works of art. This class is great for beginners and those with previous experience who want to brush up on their skills.

Learn the basics of painting still life and landscape in soft pastels. Great for beginners and those with previous experience who want to refine existing skills.

SOUL COLLAGE (1 class)
with Mary Lee Fulkerson
Begin the adventure of creating your personal deck of collaged cards from found images that will explore your inner being and nourish your precious soul. Discover your strengths, humor, compassion, inner values, patience, community, and more. We will be using the process of SoulCollage™as described in Seena B. Frost’s book, SoulCollage.

FREE CLASSES FOR ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

RENO: VSA arts of Nevada is offering free weekly art classes for adults 18 and older with developmental disabilities. The Tuesday program will be on-going at the Lake Mansion located on 250 Court Street at Arlington. Please call 826-6100 to reserve your space for this free 8 week workshop series.

SPARKS: LEISURE WITHOUT LIMITS ARTS AND CRAFT CLASS
The City of Sparks Parks & Recreation Department and VSA arts of Nevada have teamed up to provide an ongoing Arts & Crafts class for any adult with a developmental delay.  The classes are held on Wednesdays at 98 Richards Way in the Pyramid Room.  Class size is limited.  To register or for more information, please call Tia at 789-8530 or contact Mirjana at 353-7815 or by e-mail mgavric@ci.sparks.nv.us.
