Art Workshops for Adults

Simply click on the “Register” link beneath the course and pay by credit card (MC, VISA, Discover) on-line. Registration is only confirmed once VSA Nevada receives registration form and payment. Workshop costs includes all supplies unless noted. Classes are limited in size and are offered on a ‘first come first served” basis. Students needing to withdraw from a class after registering may receive a tuition refund less $5 administrative cost if VSA Nevada is notified five business days before the first session of class. No refunds thereafter. Scholarships and Gift Certificates available.

GIFT CERTIFICATES- Give the gift of creativity!

Gift certificates are available for all VSA Nevada workshops. Certificates can be purchased by credit card, check or cash in any amount. Call 826-6100 x3# or email info@vsanevada.org.

If you would like to provide a workshop for an adult or child who could not afford one… workshops/camps range in price from $40 – $140.

You will learn to strip down old fabric, copy patterns, clean and prepare for reupholstering your favorite old chair. All the techniques that you learn will be applicable to any other piece of furniture. This skill will stay with you forever.

Pastels (5 classes, J-J) with Suellen Johnson

Soft chalk pastels and oil pastels will be taught in this drawing in color course. Color mixing techniques and theory will be explored within each project. Wet and dry techniques in each pastel will be taught. Students will develop their portfolio of finished compositions as well as a number of studies exploring the medium.

Basic color mixing and an understanding of watercolor pigments & papers will introduce the class.

Learn watercolor techniques while enjoying the wonderful variety of effects they make!

Students will be given subjects to work from and will be given the freedom to explore their own interests.

Plein Air Oil Painting (7 classes, J-A) with Erik Holland

Join local artist Erik Holland to capture Summer colors and light. Painting will be done both outside (weather permitting) and in the studio from photographs. Great for beginners or the more experienced.

Raku Fired Ceramics with Jacy Robinson

Learn this Japanese ceramic firing process that uses both fire and smoke to create unique patterns and designs. In this class you will make clay pieces and participate in the Raku firing process. All supplies are included. The class will be held on two Saturdays, July 7 and July 21.

Paint & Sip with Suellen Johnson - Georgia O'Keeffe Painting

This class is great for all levels and especially for anyone who wants to unlock their inner artist in a fun social setting. Art supplies, light appetizers and one glass of wine/beer are included. You are welcome to bring additional beverages and food.

Expressive Abstract Painting with Frances Clark

Explore your intuitive nature finding your spirit in expressive painting.

Materials provided by student:

Watercolor paper: (2) full sheets,
Arches 140lb or 2 canvas size,
24x30 Acrylics: primary and secondary colors plus black and white,
Brushes: 2”flat ,1” flat, #2 round watercolor brush.
Misc: large water container, paper plates, latex gloves, paper towels, cover up.
