LESSON #31 BUG PRINTS

This simple printing project can be made by using ordinary objects found around
the house.
YOU WILL NEED:
White paper- construction or drawing
Sponge, cut into shape of beetle, bug or caterpillar
Items that can be used to make an imprint: smooth pieces of wood, an eraser,
keys, spindles, plastic lids, rubber bands, Q-tips, corks, lace, cotton,
pinecones, flat rocks, leaves, etc…use your imagination.
Tempra paint (poster paint) several bright colors
Paper plates
- Cover
table with newspaper or plastic, printing can get messy.
- Pour
a small amount of paint in each plate.
- Use
bug shaped sponge by dipping one side into paint, making an imprint of bug
body in the middle of your paper. Try a practice print on the newspaper so
you can get a feel for the amount of paint to use.
- While
drying a bit add legs, mandibles, antenna, bug eyes, maybe even a stinger.
- Next
add more prints with more colors to the body of your bug using some
interesting items found. Try more than one color, try layering colors,
experiment with the shapes and textures of your found objects.
- Finally
use leaves, lace, rocks and other textural print items to produce a
fantastic surrounding for your bug.
