There is no disability only ability in the arts. Adults with developmental delays prove this statement to be true with Artistic Expressions at the Lake Mansion.
VSA Nevada/Arts for All Nevada presents Artistic Expressions, an exhibit of artwork created by residents from Holdsworth Group Home, a Carson City facility for adults who have a developmental delay. On a weekly basis, residents learn about and create art together in a space donated by Frost Yasmer Estates, an accessible apartment building for individuals with qualifying disabilities. Students are guided by Dana Childs, one of VSAN’s teaching artists. Childs shares, “These artists are not only talented and create beautiful artistic expressions, but delight in being together and catching up on ‘what’s new’ each week. It is truly one of the most rewarding teaching environments I’ve ever worked in and some of the most delightful students I’ve had the pleasure of befriending.”
Exhibit: January 5 – 30, 2015
Reception: January 5, 2015 from 5-7 PM
