Christopher Parkins
Born in beautiful downtown Burbank, CA in 1951, and graduated from Chatsworth High School in California in 1969. In 1972 he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and manic depression, and in 1978 received international credentials in hospital materials management. Christopher graduated in 1980 with an associate in science degree from Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA.
He made Nevada state history in 1982 with the article “the history of the astronomical society of Nevada”. In 1984 wrote a children’s book “our simple solar system” and is currently composing a book for children on the moon. Christopher has several credentials in “Top” sales and achievement awards from several fields of sales, solar power, fine art sculpture, real estate and more. He is a practicing Buddhist and has been for the past few years.
Christopher is also designing “space jewelry”, i.e. “christopher’s ankh”, which is a mathematical puzzle from the Egyptians. In addition to his jewelry, he frames and designs patterns of coins, dollars and stamps and calls it “money art”, for lack of a better name.
Christopher’s goal since living in Reno since 1976 is to build an astronomical city where the buildings are actually astronomical instruments. He wishes all people a long happy life and good peace-of-mind. Artist statement written by Christopher Parkins
