VSA NEVADA presents “Works on Paper” art exhibit and reception
A collection of art work created by adults with disabilities displayed at the historic Lake Mansion in the month of May
Reception: Friday, May 10, 2013, 4 pm – 5:30pm
Exhibit: May 2 – 30, 2013, 9am – 4pm (Monday – Friday)
VSA Arts of Nevada is proud to present “Works on Paper,” an art exhibit of pieces created by the residents of Holdsworth Homes in Carson City, Nevada. The community is invited to an open-to-the-public artists’ reception on Friday, May 10, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Lake Mansion’s main floor.
Gene Hughes, a teaching artist with VSA Arts of Nevada, has been teaching art to Holdsworth’s residents with intellectual disabilities. His teaching style emphasizes on bringing out the individual artistic expressions from each of his students. “This exhibit is a celebration of artistic talent,” Hughes said. “I hope it’s a validation that these artists are a part of the community. Hopefully, the community will come to receive them.”

Paint & Sips
A new idea to the Reno area! Be one of the first to experience “Paint & Sips” at the Lake Mansion located at 250 Court St. and Arlington Ave., one block south of the Truckee River with free parking.
Make it a special event for your family and friends with our own Paint & Sips! You bring the food, wine, beer or other beverages of your choice and VSA Nevada does the rest, providing a fun and talented teaching artist who will guide you step by step recreating the featured painting. All art supplies (16”x20” canvas, acrylic paints, table easels, and brushes), an apron for the night, stemless wine glasses, a wine opener, ice, water, an area for food/drink and a wonderful welcoming space makes it easy, fun and stress free. By the end of the event everyone will be amazed at their creations they get to take home.
You can also register for monthly Paint & Sips the second Tuesday of each month with pre-selected famous artists’ work. Come with a pal or come solo and meet new friends! Check VSAN’s adult workshop page on this website.
