Christopher has an Associate of Science Degree with his science study in the field of Astronomy and was diagnosed with Schizophrenia in 1971. ”I have good days and bad days,” Chris writes in an artist statement. “I experience multiple personalities ranging from dark to ‘comedy club’!” Over a lifetime he has created a wide-range of art pieces. He is happy to share this work with others in an exhibit he has entitled “The Many Self-Portraits of Christopher Parkins”.
Every once-in-awhile something just pops out. He never knows what kind of creative piece will come out or when this will happen. “The final piece could be a painting, a poem or a collection of artifacts that represent a particular time or place,” Christopher writes. His literary works are in two state libraries. He also has a poem that was published in Washington D.C..
He plans to keep creating and has a few new works in progress. “But who knows what or when?,” Christopher writes. “Wish me – or all of us at ‘Christopher Central’ – luck!”
The exhibit runs from September 3rd to October 29th. A reception for the artist will be held at the Lake Mansion on Oct 8 from 4 pm to 6 pm.
The Lake Mansion is located at 250 Court Street on the corner of Arlington Ave. The exhibit and historic mansion is normally open the public Monday – Friday from 10 AM – 4 PM. There is no admission to the mansion or Mack’s show. www.vsanevada.org, 775-826-6100, ext. 3#.
